Hey folks - you found my little hidden “Cookie” link to my music page. Woodworking is not my only passion. In fact, music was a huge part of my life when I was younger. I used to be in a couple of bands and even had a solo act under the stage name of Philip Moon.
Today, however, I just play around in my home studio when I’m not in the workshop. I still love to write and record my original songs. It’s therapeutic for me and a lot cheaper than a psychiatrist. (LOL) The following tracks were all performed by me and recorded in my home studio. I hope you find them entertaining.
Mortal Flesh
Music/Lyrics Phil DeCarlo
I came to you to forget her
I came to you to hear me cry
I’m hoping you will understand me
Ignore my flaws and try to love me
Ignore the pain I try to hide
Too blind to fall, too weak to crawl
Two bloodshot eyes, too numb to cry
Demented signs to think I’m crazy
Self-help crap, gift-wrapped taboo
Palpitating heart that slows me
A future grey that glooms above me
Lead to a lazy path to you
Chorus
The soul is crushed, the nerves are broken
Through darkened rain, my body cries
Remorseful words already spoken
If a tortured soul already rose, then
Mortal flesh remains to die
Casting shadows across the water
Feel the breeze, ignore the signs
Trying not to think about her
Is causing me to lose my mind
Chorus

Valerie
Music/Lyrics Phil DeCarlo
Come to me, come to me Valerie
I call out, call your name desperately
Love you, love you, love me
In my mind, it's hard to find
the words to say

Walk into my dreams
Let me touch your hair
Love me if you dare
Please be happy

I see her standing underneath a shaded tree
She doesn't see the hurt of shades inside of me
Why do I fool myself its clear to me
Memories of love that wasn't
meant to be

But memories won't let go
Nothing I can do
I'll always remember you
Please be happy

My thoughts are spinning me around
At last, I finally found a memory
At first a face with no name
But then it finally came where I could see
Valerie
But memories won't let go
Nothing I can do
I'll always remember you
Please be happy

Red (Who Will Say)
Music/Lyrics Phil DeCarlo
Who believed you when your days were cold?
Who believed there was a star in you?

Red, you know I loved you
Red, I'll think always of you
Please be my angel girl
watch down upon me
Red, our hearts are broken
Red, the Gods have spoken
Now go in peace and love
and spread your pretty wings

Who will say, if your love will cross my way, if your life was meant to stay, who would say?

Who would know, if your life was touch and go, live your life though you don't know
who would say
Whoever doubted you were beautiful
I believed you at our first hello

Chorus

Living life without a reason
Knowone listens to her word
I gave her meaning for the seasons
'til her voice was finally heard
Chorus

I'm Gonna Ask Her Out
Music/Lyrics Phil DeCarlo
I got this funny feeling again
This time she put my head in a spin
I met her beauty through my friends

Oh God she's so pretty
She's from New Your city
She makes me feel so dizzy

Sitting at the bar, her and I
I stared at her, she caught my eye
I smirked, she smiled,
she drives me wild

'Til that night I met her
I'm always dreaming of her
I'm gonna ask her out
I'm gonna ask her out now
I'm gonna ask her out
I'm gonna ask her out now

Seems there's no courage left in me
Why do I think she'll come to me
Sometimes I don't think logically

But see, I'm a dreamer.
Dreaming only of her
But now I think I love her

She's Killing Me
Music/Lyrics Phil DeCarlo
She's killing me
Why can't she see it in my eyes
She's killing me
Why can't she hear it in my cry

She's falling out
She's falling out of love

She's killing me
How can she ask to be set free
She's killing me
How can she ignore her love for me

She's falling out
She's falling out of love
Skies are falling
She's never played the game
Hear the thunder, feel the rain again

Skies are falling
I'm running from the pain
The stars won't shine the same again

She's killing me
I ran out of words to make her stay
She's killing me
Unfolding her wings to fly away

She's falling out
She's falling out of love

She's killing me.
Why can't she see it in my eyes
This is 21 years old me (look at that hair!)

Where did the time slip away
Music/Lyrics Phil DeCarlo
Sunday morning, where did the time slip away
Without warning, where did the time slip away
Love is forming, where did the time slip away
She's adoring, where did the time slip away

I remember all the nights that I'd
taste the lipstick kiss from you
I always dreaded when we'd say goodbye
Do you remember me, the way that I remembered you

Rain is pouring, where did the time slip away
Wind is soring, where did the time slip away
Love outpouring, where did the time slip away
She's adoring, where did the time slip away

I remember all the days I tried
tried to spend more time with you
Breathing your air would truly pacify
Do you remember me, the way that I remember you

No ignoring, where did the time slip away
She's adoring, where did the time slip away

Was it a waste of time, with nothing else to do
or does it mean that I'm falling in love with you
Holding you in my arms, breathing you inside of me
Makes me realize I'm whole again, Heather can't you see

Chorus
